it is a great song. although, upon further review of the structure, beat, and rhythym, i was slightly disappointed. I was pi**ed when i realized its the same as 'My Name Is Mud' by Primus (which came out in 1994). check it out for yourself. i still am a fan of green day though, they're great musicians.

In my life time I have never heard such a melodious song. After hearing the song I felt more Crazy O'er it The vocals are perfectly match with the assistance. This song from (Grn Day) has been the most popular song in our areas. The band will be my best bands in my life time they will be my idol forever. 'WISH U ALL THE BEST GREEN DAY FOR Ur FUTURE'.

JOS is alone again. Lost his friends, the only girl he ever loved, he's out of home, out of job, and back where he started, sad and alone on the streets. He discribes himself as innocent, or at least he was, and he just didn't last. They broke him down, and he's just dead inside. This is also, on a more personal note, a side song about Billie Joe's late father, who died years ago (September 1982), when Billie Joe was 10. Both explanations apply.

The song is clearly about losing what you could have had. The theme is summed up at the start of the video. The whole political aspect of the video is just a side note. Does it work? I guess thats up to you.

Not a punk fan, but this is excellent. As a former music professor, I can say that this song is beautifully written. Nice chord progression (descending bass line) attractive melody. A+

The fact that this song is based on a Marine who had to leave his girlfreind...makes me really relate to it...as u could guess im USMC Infantry and thats exactly what i had to do.the funny thing is that i dont even like this kind of music normally...im a country fan.but this song is one of the few rock songs i like...Semper Fi

I like this song a lot for a lot of reasons. For anyone who DOESNT like it, maybe thats cause you have no way to relate to the words. For me, September has always been a bad month. This particular one was worse than usual. Plus, after watching the video for it, it has even more meaning for me cause my boyfriend is in the army. So...yeah.

well, of course, i am a green day fan. this song really has some meaning to it that makes it different than other songs though, like it gets some messag across to people. i just went to go see Green day live tonight. when they played WMUWSE it was magical. the lighters and cell phones were glowing, and Billie sang it out to the hurricane katrina victims.

this song is so sad and i cry every time i see the video because i know people that are eithor in the war or just got back and ive seen real photos and its just so sad. and im in this relationship where if he ever left me i would freak out like the girl in the video i would absolutley be devistated.

i LOVE this song, it is my favorite song at the moment and has been ever since i heard green day play it in concert on 4/20/04. i cry almost every time i hear it and see the video. words cant express how much this song means to me! hopefully this will be the first song i learn to play on my guitar!

i think this song is meaningful.because it relates to the 9/11 tragedy that had happen in the past.the song title'wake me up when september ends'means that the individual doesnt want to experience the grieving moments that goes through the month.I dont expect Greenday playing this kind of music,but i can accept that they are versatile now.This is a lot different than the greenday i used to listen..i dont think there's anymore stuff like basketcase or brain stew or even when i come around

I just heard this song for the 1st time on React Now. My 22y/o son died last year in September. He was also born in September. This is a month I wish I could skip. Awesome song for this heartbroken mom.

I heard this song for the first time on the day after Labor day when all you were seeing on TV was the destruction from Hurricane Katrina. I couldn't help but think how appropriate the lyrics were to the devastation that had occurred. Lots of meaning.

This was a great song don't get me wrong, I could really relate...with my b/f being in the Army and all, but what happened to old school Green Day? Basketcase was kick ass, make some more albums like that! Still I must say pretty good song.

When I heard 'Wake Me Up When September Ends', I was speachless. I heard it on the last day of Summer 2004. It made me cry. Never before in my life had I been as moved by a song. It's a beautiful ballad and deserves alot of recagnition. It beats 'Good Riddance' for best ballad...and 'Good Riddance' was one of my favorite songs by them.

When I first heard Wake Me Up When September Ends I was awstruck, I never knew Green Day could do something like this. It's simillar to Are We The Waiting track 5 on this album but both songs are awesome. This album is the best album since Nirvana's-Nevermind and that was a fantastic album. I hope in 25 years this song and this album are played on classic rock stations because this album didn't take 15 minutes this album took a long time probably and it shows.

I love this song half to death. The tone is so different from the whole CD. The acoustic guitar, was simply fablous. This song mad me cry when I first heard it. <3
