Sorry but I agree with David.
Avril Lavigne is a untalented artist. She got lucky. For a review, I think it would be fair for me to say she is a poser who says she doesnt like writing love songs and then writes all about love songs. Then she says she is hard core punk and when you hear the album, it is pop with a tiny bit of rock. Hard core, Avril? She makes it sounds like it is Korn, Red I Flight, or something like that.
This album is a improvement from the first one but no, it isnt 'Hardcore' as she says.

What i meant was that the majority of grammys are'nt rewarded for talent, they are rewarded for popularity. As we have already discussed, popularity (record sales) does not usually have anything to do with talent, just how many people music appeals to. What i meant when i said grammys don't mean sh** is that they don't mean that the artists winning them are more talented than those who have never won an award.

Yeah silhouette is another of my fave tracks. If only this site had a thrice page this conversation wouldn't be out of place. Well actually i just checked and there is one, but the only song is stare at the sun. Nothing going on there though; only 1 post and that was back in January. It's a shame coz that is another of my favourites. It shouldn't be long until i can get that glassjaw album, might order it this weekend.

Yeah i see what u mean. Another thing that shows they are quite well known is that their last album was mixed by the same guy who mixes for linkin park. Did u know that? He's called Andy Wallace and i don't know if he mixed the other thrice albums, i suppose u would know if he did. Thrice also have a major record deal, so i suppose u could say they are slightly mainstream. Anyway what's your fave song off their latest album? Mine is all that's left. I really like the guitar in that song. I suppose u wonder how i like thrice but also like linkin park and other bands i mentioned (not forgetting avril). Another band i forgot to mention is rasmus. Their new album is awesome. Don't know if u would like them though.

Yes 5 was a mistake, no 0 isnt unfair, yes glassjaw is my favorite band (along with hopesfall before they sold out), and thrice isnt mainstream in that theyre well known or ever played on the radio. But you know they did have a video or 2 on MTV, they are occasionally played on the radio etc. I didnt say they WERE mainstream only that they were the closest thing to mainstream i still listen to.

Yeah i hav artist and illusion. Those were the only ones i could find on the site i tried (suprnova.org). I might try to get the other. Anyway if thrice is mainstream in canada it certainly ain't over here. I went in HMV today (don't know if they have that in canada but if not it's one of the main music shops in britain) and they didn't have any thrice CDs. Even though their latest only came out last year. So anyway is glassjaw your fave band? i still need to get a CD from them, would download it if i could but can't find it.

Thrice actually has three cd's: Identity Crisis, The Illusion of Safety, and Th Artist in the Ambulance which is their lastest release. Overall I prob like Artist best but to appreciate their guitar playing Illusion of safety is best. Absdoltely crazy guitar parts on that cd. Anyways, thrice is prob the most mainstream band I listen to. Still a very good band, but they were more a gateway for me into the harder and much better music.

Oh sorry rach forgot to answer u. Yeah i like nobody's home, sounds real good loud with lot's of bass. (but then i suppose that's how all songs sound best!) Haven't heard the aucoustic, might try downloading it (u might have gathered that i have suddenly started downloading a lot of stuff!). The vid for that is good too. My fave bit is prob when she gets pushed out that shop for trying to steal something, that made me laugh coz u can imagine avril actually doing that! I think that vid shows avril could make a good actress. I bet she'll be in a film soon, it's bound to happen sooner or l8er (lol i'm even starting to spell like avril now!)

Anyways i downloaded both thrice albums (there's only 2 right?) only had time to listen to 'artist in an ambulance'. I liked it, my fave song off it is 'all that's left' but i only listened to the whole album twice, so my fave song might change like it does with most albums. Anyway which thrice album do u think is best? And is ambulance the latest one? (i think it must be coz it's 2003) Tried to download glassjaw too but couldn't find it.

Yes rach i do have the kiss kiss bang bang ep its pretty sweet. Wasnt a big fan or worship and tribute but their first cd is the greatest thing ever written. And yes some1 it is weird that people would like both glassjaw and avril and its not about having varied tastes. If you get the cd you will see that glassjaw is some of the most real, emotional, honest, angry music ever written, s stark contrast to the fakeness and catchiness of avrils bullsh**. So yes thats weird get over it.

I might buy that Glassjaw album if u say it's so good, i can get it for £10, but i'm saving upgrade my PC so i might not be able to buy it yet. Anyway what proof do u have that Avril is manufacturned? Or is that just an opinion? And i know both her albums reached #1 in the UK, but none of her singles did, and she has been out of the top 40 for ages, so over here she's not actually as popular as u think (or at least not as popular as in America and Canada).

No David i was not lying, i find out about music from friends mainly. I never listen to the radio (unless it's playing in a shop or something) and i barely ever watch MTV. Usually the way i find out i like music is i download a song or watch a video online of a band, and if i like it i consider buying an album. And seen as i can get most albums off play.com for £8 or £9 ($12 to $14) i can buy pretty much whatever album i want. It seems that when u diss a band i like, i want to do the same thing back, but i haven't heard much of the music u like, so there's no point. Maybe if u tell me your favourite album (by Glassjaw or whatever) i might buy it or at least download it (that will prob take about 20 mins). Then we can have a fair argument. And u seem to think i like all mainstream music. Although i'll admit most bands i like are technically mainstream, there is no point in comparing them to TRUE mainstream sh** like britney and kylie. Although u might argue against this, i don't like any music which is manufactured. That's right, all the bands i have mentioned are not manufactured, and if u think they are then u know nothing about them.

I know most things on the radio are sh**, but i never listen to the radio, so that's irrelevant. Again u just used opinions, u said they have untalented instrumentation, but i don't know how u think that. LP can certainly write good music, coz each of their songs has its own unique sound, and the guitar tunes always sound really good, especially on their first album. And they do not have sh**y lyrics! 'In The End', for just one example, has incredible lyrics. And i don't know why u think they have no emotion. I know u did not aim all that directly at LP, but u said it about music u don't like, and i know u don't like them so i'll assume u think that about LP anyway. No dumbass thats not how I dislike music. First off, stop this solo bullsh**. Youre wrong. Papa roach and limp bizkit are as much a band as linkin park theres no argument. LP puts just as much emphasis on their singer as the other two theres no difference between the bands whatsoever. And I dont like music when its like this: generic, instrumentally relatively talentless, void of any significant meaning or emotion, sh**ty lyrics, etc. That is why any song you hear on the radio simply isnt very good. Yeah i know they technically aren't solo artists but what i meant by that is that both of them put the emphasis on one person, the lead singer. That's like saying that Avril isn't a solo artist, when she has had the same band with her since she started, and coz the emphasis is on her, she uses her name and not a band name. Linkin Park don't do that, which is probably why they haven't changed much (although their 3rd album is actually very different in its style from the 1st). And why should they change? Just coz one or two 'hardcore' people like u don't like them? No f**king way! They actually have a very hardcore fan base. I think i have realized how your mind works when it comes to liking or disliking music. If u don't instantly like music, or if it comes from someone with a good record deal, u hate it. If that's true then u are very sad and it shows how shallow u are.

This is getting more hilarious whith every post u write! So c'mon David, entertain us with your bullsh**! And besides in case u haven't noticed, mainstream means different things in different places. It does of course mean popular music (hence pop), but Avril certainly isn't that popular over here. I never hear anyone talking about her, even if she does do quite well in UK charts. She is obviously mainstream where u come from (it's where she comes from too). And I still don't get why u keep dissing Linkin Park. U say they suck but u give no reasons (by that I mean the truth, not made up bullsh** like they can't play their instruments). So c'mon David. Wow what an ignorant question followed by an ignorant statement. Yes I do know a lot of the music out there. That doesn't mean I dont know what underground is. Some of the bands I listed such as calico system are underground. Alice in Chains is by no means underground they were one of the biggest 'metal' bands of their time. And next, theres a difference between selling 1 record and going multi platinum in 30 different countries. Bands like some of the ones i mentioned arent mainstream. f***ing avril lavigne, linkin park, and anyone else you prob like is as mainstream is it f***ing gets.

I agree wiv u there rach, nobody's home is a bit more boring than some of her other songs, still gud though. And yes he wasn't is gud, but one of my favourite songs off the album is 'i always get what i want' that song just sounds so awesome. Whoever wrote the guitar for that needs a medal! Of course David won't have heard it, with it being a UK and Japan bonus track.

Brant u don't know what the f**k u are on about. Avril's voice is not crap. It is not perfect, but it
certainly is not crap. If u think she is not talented then u obviously don't know anything about her. She can also play several different instruments. Guitar, bass, drums, piano, u name it she can play it. Not only that but she writes or co-writes all her own songs. Now u try and tell me any other female solo artist who can do all this. There aren't any others. Avril has a wider range of talent than almost anyone. And she manages to do all this and still be herself, unlike most others who are completely changed by the whole experience.

David i have to say that your last post was probably the most hilarious yet! U said '99% of the world are morons', which clearly shows that u are the real moron. If that many people were morons, how would the world work? Obviously it wouldn't, so i really have to say that that was the biggest load of sh** i ever heard! And again i find myself explaining to u what i have already explained several times. YOUR OPINION IS NOT FACT! Just because YOU don't like something does not make it bad. Rach i agree with u completely. Avril may not be that good at singing live, but it just doesn't matter. It's the atmosphere that matters in that case, and she has that covered with her personality. Like u said, she is cool. U only have to watch any programme or her DVD in particular to see that. It's also good that u like Green Day coz i like them too. Have u got their new album? If u don't u must get it because it is absolutely awesome! I'm sure David would dissagree, but quite frankly i don't give a sh**. The only other Green Day album i have is their first one, Dookie, which i actually got after the new one, coz i just recently got into them. If only i could have heard their music earlier, they probably would have been my favourite band for years. It's a lot like that with Avril. I only knew who she was when My Happy Ending (the song we are meant to be reviewing but aren't) was released as a single (lol). Once i heard a couple of her songs and found out that it was her who did Sk8er Boi (don't know how i didn't know that) i instantly bought both her albums and her DVD. That's how much i like her. If only i knew about her back in 02. If u haven't heard her albums u sould buy the new one especially, otherwise u are missing out on some seriously good music.

The most annoying thing is not only that people call her punk, but that she called herself punk repeatedly when she first came out. Thats when I started hating her. Yeah David u said 'reading sh** on her', emphasis on SH**, coz that's what it is. If u trust the media on anything but exact quotes of what people say, then u really are stupid. I don't know if Avril ever did say she was punk, and if she did she was probably just having a laugh, so it doesn't matter. What matters is that she said at least two, maybe more months ago 'I hate it when people try to lable me as punk'. Thats the exact quote i've seen in many different places. How the f**k is she trying to be punk if she said that? She's not is the answer dumbass, thats just media bullsh**. And interviews don't show what people are like, especially not Avril. They don't relax on interviews, they only say what they think the audience whant to hear. The only think that shows how Avril is when she is relaxed and can be herself is her official DVD, and until u see that, u don't know what she is like. So stop making assumptions on what people are like based on what the media say. In case u haven't realised, profits are more important to that kind of media than the truth. They just want to stirr up as much trouble as possible to make people buy their magazines etc. As I have already said, the only accurate things that come out of the media in this case are quotes. I hope i've explained all this enough. And if u want me to stop talking to u, why do u bother to read my reviews. That doesn't seem to make sense. P.S. As i've already said, i enjoy arguing with u, i find it funny, so until that changes i'm not going to stop. Stop thinking that u can just tell me to go away, i'm no f**king pushover. I'm not embarassed about likeng Avril, and nor should anyone else be. I can understand why u don't like people who think she is punk or whatever, but I aren't one of them. The main reason I like Avril is because I like the sound of her music. I know u don't and i've accepted that. Just because i like different music to u doesn't mean that u have to turn on me. And i don't know why u said u don't like Avril as a person. U don't know her. U have never met her. Whatever bad opinions u have of her personality are unfounded. And i don't think Rach is going to want to argue with u, but i don't know, we might hear more from her. I still don't understand why u think Avril is manufactured. Can u explain your reasons for thinking that? One other reason that she can't be manufactured is that she always sings live. She does this even though her voice is not particularly good live, and this shows how dedicated she is. No manufactured artist is like that.

Now, i think the comment that 'this is exactly what youre going through' is pretty weak, since this song describes a difficult situation in about the most moronic way possible. But overall solid post. I dont care if avril makes music. As much as I hate her music and her as a person I can choose not to listen to her. However, what pi**es me off is morons on this site who go off saying that shes punk or that shes the best. Shes not the best. not even close. She's a minimally talented singer/musician. Exactly right Rach, it's good to see someone else except me sticking up for Avril :). This David guy seems to think that she is manufactured but in saying that he shows that he clearly doesn't know what he is talking about. David u know nothing about Avril, she makes her own decisions and isn't told what to do, so how can she possibly be manufactured? The answer is she isn't. Anyway there should be more people like Rach writing reviews on this site, who don't try to rip your head off when they disagree with you. this is dumb, how come your arguiging over avril anyway, i think this song is good coz its exactly what im going through at the moment, i read these reviews and thought you were all abit sad to be honest david you have some good points so do the people sticking up for avril, but there is no point in arguing about it, she does play her guitar i saw her in concert on the 10th oct, she played guitar and piano and even played song 2 by blur on the drums, i think people think she wants to be punk coz thats how she comes across but really she is just writing what she feels, so okay she has had people to help her but when she was writing let go she was only 15 give her a break! she has writen her new album with chantel and ranie and don gilmore (linkin park) produced some of the songs, it definatly shows she is more mature now, i think ive rambled enough anyway , david i see where your coming from dude and i understand you think shes just come in got a bunch of songs off some producer but give the girl a break she is trying and is doing pretty well!

I on't give a sh** if u think u are done with me, and clearly u did not even read my last post fully. I asked u to suggest a song by Thrice for me to download, bacause I haven't heard any. Then I can see what u think is good guitar playing. I suppose u think that good guitar playing is as fast and complex as possible, which is why u don't like Linkin Park. Their guitars are played in quite a simple way, but still sound good because they can write their music well. Case not f**king closed. I hate almost all pop music, in fact, Avril's music is the only music which is in any way related to pop that i actually like. Clearly we have different opinions on what is pop and what is rock etc, but that doesn't matter. No dumbass, linkin park use pro tools because they know how to! And they can play their own instruments, where the f**k did u get the idea that they can't? And u think they're mainstream? BULLSH**! Yeah bullsh** David! If any album from a band is sh**, that means they are sh**! A good band or artist has to be consistant. All the bands I like have consistantly good albums. Linkin Park, for example, have made 3 excellent albums in 3 years, now let's see u try to say they are bad! (that would be a laugh). Both of Avril's albums are really good too (I know u don't like them but I don't give a sh**). U think any guy who likes Avril has something wrong with them, well any guy who doesn't like her, (you), is either deaf, blind or stupid! And u said earlier that Avril is manufactured! Thank God! Or should I say Jebus! Jebus, its good that you're back, but it looks like David has given up! Where are u man? Has anyone seen Avril's new video for 'Nobody's Home'? It rocks! U can see it on just about any music channel. If u have Sky +, record it. That's what I did. I recorded all three of her new videos so I can watch them whenever I want (in good quality). The new single comes out on 15th November, so make sure u all buy it, so it gets as high on the charts as possible (even though we alone won't make any difference). I finally managed to get some Glassjaw songs. I got three from Kazaa: Stuck Pig, Cosmopolitin Blood Loss and Room With A View. I thought they were OK, but I couldn't find any of the others u suggessted. I'll try downloading a few more before I make any judjements. I can see now why u don't like Avril and some other bands I like. U must be into all really heavy music like Glassjaw, so u must think a lot of other bands are too tame. Thats just what I think anyway, so correct me if I'm wrong. As u can see, I'm through arguing with u, coz I've accepted that we just like different music. I don't know where the hell Jebus has gone, must have ran out of gay jokes or something! I'll probably post again 2morrow, so I want to hear something from u David!

David, I did find some other Glassjaw songs on Kazaa, so I might try downloading them. Until then I think we should just accept that we like different music. We've had some good arguments, but what annoyed me was that u treated me like I was the same as Jebus ant the others who could think of nothing but insulting u. I don't think these arguments are going anywhere, but if u still want to keep argueing, thats fine by me, at least until I get bored. Don't try to say that I've given up or anything like that, I just feel like toning down the argument a bit, and at least when I've heard some of your music we can maybe agree on something. My guess is that u will just try to throw this back in my face, but i suppose what u say next will show what kind of person u are. Next time u can tell me some more music u like, and I can download it. If we ever find a band we both like, we could go on the review page for them (if they have it on this site) and diss people who don't like them. I'll understand if u don't give a damn about all this, but I still want some more suggesstions of music to download. It's up to u what happens next.

Once again David u use opinions not proof! Avril does not sell CDs because of trends, because her 'trend' is not actually popular. She sells CDs because a lot of people like her music. U clearly think that any song written by a chick is aimed at a chick. So do you also think Evanescence is aimed at chicks? I DON'T F***ING THINK SO! U say that Avril isn't rock? Thats because u have obviously not heard her music on a quality CD player with a lot of bass. My CD player only has 2x20W speakers, and on only 2/3 volume, some of Avril's music sounds just as heavy as anything else, and can be heard from outside, even with all windows and doors closed!And the guitars and drums are always played really well, with a unique style. Now imagine that with like 2x500W. There is NO F***ING WAY U CAN CALL THAT POP!!!! U say Avril's band are crap? IN WHAT F***ING WAY?! Explain yourself man! They can play their instruments fine. Especially her first band, the lead guitarist now has his own company, where he writes and records guitar music for other bands, which shows how good he is. Also, more proof that Avril's music is good is the other bands who get involved with her. Why do u think Green Day let her do a cover for 'Basket Case'? If they didn't like her they would have disagreed. So what next? Are u going to say Green Day are sh**? That really would make anyone laugh! Also, the lead guitarist from Evanescence helped her write the music for one of her new songs, and he played the guitar when it was recorded. The list goes on! One thing u still don't understand is that I don't give a damn about your personal life I'm not trying to insult you. I've noticed something about your arguments David. You never explain WHY u think Avril's music is bad, u just say ' ITS AIMED AT LITTLE GIRLS, ITS AIMED AT LITTLE GIRLS, blaa blaa f**k f**k blaa blaa f**k f**k' thats all u ever say. My SISTER (yes sister since no guy with any balls would ever own this cd) owns this cd and on a 9 hour car ride for a family vacation this summer, she played the whole f***ing thing. Alright David, unlike u, I am not going to resort to cheap insults. Instead I will use logic (if u are as smart as u say u should 2). First, u can see u are seriously outnumbered on this site, and even more now that u have me 2 contend with as well as others like Jebus and Haven (+ all Av fans). Clearly u have only heard 1 or 2 Avril songs, if u heard all of her new album u would see that it is certainly not aimed at little girls. Many of her songs are real rock songs, with very loud guitars, so if u just listened to these (e.g. 'Take Me Away' and 'Forgotten') u will see that her music is aimed at anyone who likes rock (technically her music is pop rock). You should buy the album and see if u can honestly say that u still don't think Avril's music is good (if u really have that scholarship u have no excuse not to buy it). Please write back to me David, I'd like to see u try 2 insult me, u are just some text on a flat panel monitor to me, so u can't possibly insult me. This is because u can't prove anything u say on this site, and u don't know me. P.S. Jebus and Haven, u guys have another ally :) We can't let David cover this site with his abuse. Avril Lavigne definitely classifies as the worst pop-punk imitation artist to come out in the past few years. But hey, she has competition with Linkin Park.

1.) She does not write her own lyrics. She 'sit down' with a songwriter.

I actually like this song. I think Avril is a talented singer (and thankfully a better role model to kids since she WEARS CLOTHES). I understand that people give her a lot of hell for 'claiming' to be 'punk' (I find her to be more alternative than pop music, but whatever). Avril strives to be different than other pop singers, and she WANTS to be 'punk' (What else is she going to call her music? She obviously is the anti-Britney and she does NOT want to be considered another pop star... I frankly don't blame her). If Avril wants her music to sound like 'punk' then that's her perogative. It's her music and her art. At least she isn't the typical pop 'ho dancing around with hardly any clothes on in a video... and while she is no John Mayer or Michelle Branch -- at least she TRIES to be an individual and play some music herself. Punk, alternative, pop music or whatever -- the girl has a great voice. Give her the credit for keeping the clothes on. I could care less what category her music falls in -- she is better than a lot of 'em out there. If only she would get herself an education, relax and not try so hard, and be a bit more humble, she would be wonderful...

I really love this song a lot, I also can relate to this song. The part where she says 'Its nice to know that you were there...And letting me know we were done'
hits really close to home. I cried the first time I heard this song...

I have to say this is one of the best songs off her album
it has good lyrics and a really cathy beat, and it has one of those tunes that stays in ur head 4 yonks
Avril is doin really well with her new album, she sold over 4 million copies!1

i love this song so much i got her cd and i love it. i love the song because my ex that i recently broke up doesnt want to talk to me anymore and all his friends look at me and talk about me but like in this song they dont know me. this song when i first heard it reminded me of this and i love it its nice to know that i'm not the only one with these kind of problems and all i cant say to Avril is Thanks!!!
