My son Derrick just graduated from Lackland AFB BMT. He asked his dad & I to go to church services with him while we were there. Derrick had said that we had to hear this song & told us how powerful that the song was. Although he didn't prepare us for what we were to witness! As the song began to play the 'entire packed congregation' of trainees & airmen alike began clapping, whistling, singing, swaying, & crying to this amazing song! I have never been so moved by a song before, & will never forget the effect it had on me & on all of these brave individuals trainig to protect this great country.

Like so many of the other reviewers, I have familyin the military. My husband is getting ready to leave and I have a brother in service as well. And I consider every single other man and woman in the service, My Family, and I hurt for every person in this situation. I have only just heard this song for the first time and It touched me and I am still crying. This song ends happy, unlike too many I know. Please, all of you, PRAY for our family members, wherever they may be. Whether they battle here close to home or far away so that others may have what we have.

This was sang at church Sunday (July 4). I don't think there was a dry eye in the congregation as we have several who are away at war. May God bring them all home safely.

Great song, Mark. He captured the vivid image of war and the effects of it on the loved ones at home. My husband is a soldier and I related to this song more than ever-it hit right home and the tears just can't stop flowing anytime I listen to it. 'Bring him/her home' is our prayer always, brave ones away from home. We pray for you always. Thanx for this awesome song.

Correction for the rating. It has to be '10'. I have heard this song for more than 10 times in these 2 days. I still cry each time I listen to it.

Yesterday, our church played this music video at the end of the service. I just couldn't stop my tears and so did others. I tried to find the video at the web site and forward to all the people I know. God bless all the families who send their loved one to the war.

Let me start by saying that this is a great song. I teared up when I first heard it. In fact, I had heard a small clip of the song before I heard the full version, and I had assumed the son had died in the war. So, the song was extra moving, as I was unprepared for a happy ending. My only wish was that the song was longer. (Not time wise, but in content) I think it needs at least one or two more verses to build up to when the son is captured. By the second verse, the son is already captured and the mother is receiving a letter from a different person. I think it would have been even more powerful to detail one or two more letters from the son before the mother has the shock of receiving the sad news of his capture from one of his comrads. All in all though, a really great song that I'm sure will climb high on both the Christian and secular charts.

Being a vet, this song brought back memories. Unfortunately, many of families did not have such a happy ending. What this reminds me of...as a small child, I remember when the last POW from Vietnam came down the steps of an airplane rushing into his family's arms.

I heard that Mark wrote this song after finding letters in his Grandmother's house. The letters were to her from Mark's uncle in the war. The fact that this is a true story takes it to a whole new level for me. I do not have a son in Iraq but I can try to imagine the joy she felt when her son came home and ran to her arms. Indescribable joy! Just a foretaste of what our Heavenly Father will feel for us when we get to heaven!

Firstly, I had never heard of Mark Schultz until today. I have been listening to 96.5 Brisbane for only a week and I keep hearing these wonderful songs. After listening to Mark Schultz 'Letters from War', I decide to look on the net to find more info on this talented vocalist. I love his voice and the words of his song. Congratulations on having such an imazing talent.
