The love of my life once told me that there is this song called 'Love Song' that reminded him of us and when I heard it I instantly fell in love with the song, especially because of our situation at this time, he is in our hometown and I am 125 miles away.

I love the song 'love song' it means the world to me! My boyfriend is in the military and he sang this song to me when he got to call me. I cryed this song is more than words, its feelings. Thanks 311 you have helped me go one and are making the time until my boyfriend comes home go by faster. I hope this song also goes out to other people in their time of need.

I love this song because its an original the cure song i love the cure when i was in my mom stomach my mom went to the cure concert i think that why i love them so much and i love this song especially the love song is the best and has been the best for more that a decade thanks 311 for recreating it and making it come to life again

omg, i just heard this and it is utter crap.
there is no emotion or talent at all in this.
its as if they took a beautiful song, stripped all the soul out of it, tried to recreate it note for note, without understanding what it was aboutl. smoked way to much pot and then vomited all over the microphones. and that is what we are listening to. this is the worst cover i have EVER heard. 311 are wothless talentless meat sacks who need to be pushed down a dark well.

Man i think samuel J put it best. 311 owns you all. and f*** the naysayers. 311 is gonna do what they gotta do to get the people glowin. and they don't need friends who act like foes because their singer is Nick Hexum. the one who knows. 311 is down for the unity also. and 311 is not going to let you break them because you are just another human. I would have to say this is not a great version for that song. It sounds so plain, just plain and boring.
And whenever the websites list the lyrics for songs, they should always list out the ORIGINAL writer of the songs. It is just WRONG not doing that.

I really like 311 for being so unique for so long. That's why I thought the radio stations were playing 'Love Song' by the Cure ;-) Never even noticed the difference. Maybe I need to get the Cure version on MP3. It is a great song though.

terrible! awful! i was offended when i heard this song!! how dare they! HOW DARE THEY!! i had no problem with 311 before this, hell i even own a couple of their albums, but they've crossed a line. they destroyed a beautiful song! in my eyes, the band 311 no longer exists!

This song is definitely the 'SUMMER ANTHEM' & I'm glad that 311 did a cover on it. It totally turns me on. To those who think the cover is a total ripoff & 311 should write their own songs- Music is about integrating different styles and putting your own spin on songs. Just because the Cure did the original doesn't me that they should be the only ones to have the song. I think the cover was an awesome job :)

***ThreeElevenFanMD*** Nice review. Glad to see someone else still appreciates 311. Been around since they started, they shaped my adolescense. I might not particularly like the song if not for 311's cover, but I know what incredible musicians they are and I appreciate what they put into it. After hearing all their cds 2000 times, they can do no wrong.

the lyrics to this song are nothing short of amazing... it can actually make you feel like you're in love. i do enjoy 311's version, but i do not believe that it can compair at all with the cure's original.

I don't know exactly what this is for, and it's most likely no one is going to read this, but i just wanted to say that i love this song (Love Song), it's My Boyfriends and I's favorite song, and it makes me feel really good to hear it, it's sad/happy/heartstabbing(in a good way:P) and i just love it. I have to say it...because it HAS to be said. 311 did do a nice job with this song, but I am SICK and TIRED of people thinking it is 311's own creation, or that The Cure only did a 'version' of it. It is and will always be The Cure's love song. I think Tori Amos did a really nice cover of the song as well.

The remake is a pale imitation. All 311 did was add a slightly ska rhythm, and then try to impersonate (badly) Robert Smith's vocal style.
If you're going to remake a song, you should really bring something new to it. I expect lame covers from cheesy wedding bands, but not from established acts like 311.
I wish the radio stations would take it off heavy rotation -- it's just annoying.

Unfortunately, I was put onto 311 not too long ago. Though I haven't listened to all of their albums yet, what I've heard so far definitely says these guys are musicians in every sense of the word. 'Love Song' is captured in such an awesome way, from the arrangement of the song, its pace, rhythm, the way it's sung--it just really conveys a certain vulnerability of love.

I say it's not a bad re-make. I do agree with some that 311 has a very original sound. Love Song is not by far one The Cure's best songs, so I actually enjoyed 311's version. I don't think this version is by any means meant to be a breakout hit for the band. It definitely has the 311 sound. It's an unmistakeable great sound.

this remake is crap. the dude just cannot sing. they have added nothing to the original except making it so heartless it makes me want to kill myself. as for the cure's 'synth sound' on the original- try listening to the original before you make something up. the original has a real string section for the part that 311 has replaced with some lame guitar crap.

I've been following 311 since they where underground and i was a fetus... if you are a workin musician like myself you can really enjoy what 311 has done for music... they are by far the greatest band of the 90's if you compare stats and straight musical talant and the ability to be so 'tight' after playing music together so long. not to mention versatility... they can play anything and make it sound good... they could cover a nickleback song and youd actually want to listen to it. as far as the speed of 311s version of love song... the speed adds the passionate effect and it sounds better that way. think about it... love is warm and kind and 'fluffy' not jump up and down and hit up the town for some bi***es. and 311 understands this just as they understand all music thats why they can play anything and make it go platnum about 30 times. If you listen to the radio at all and listen to the bullsh** they have on rock radio now and then listen to when they play 'love song' it seems very out of place compared to the 3 chord, 2 verses, 2 chorus, brige, end crap that execs sign today... 311 is the led zepplin of our generation the way the regulate and lay there sh** down and its a shame more people don't realize that... but thats because 99 percent of people arent musicians so theyll never know or understand... they just be like... 'man wheres my new blink 182 cd? oh shoot its under my white stripes and the darkness cd next to the trash can'

311 can do no wrong. They have arguably been the most innovate band of the 90's, and even when they do a remix they just make it work. An underrated song for an underrated band. If you get a chance to see them this summer on tour, do it. I promise you won't regret it. You might even here them play Love Song. Keep making awesome music 311.

nice chill out song. loved the original The Cure's version with its 80's syntesizer sound (I think!) and loved Tori Amos's version with the piano. I'm playing all 3 versions one after another and each one evokes a different kind of feeling. i suppose it's the simple lyric that's haunting...

Great song. The first time I listened it, I loved it and ever since listen to it daily multiple times. not tired yet. I go to vh1.com and see the video everyday.
It always seems to me that the song ends too fast. there should have been the repetition of the guitar tune at the end and slowy end the song.
everyone will like this song. if not, there is something wrong with the person.
