This song totally rocks. The intro and the sound effects reminds me when I was at the Subway and there's a train coming by. The lyrics are very well written.

I would first like to start out saying that jason is hot! I will deffinetly be looking to meet him when I become famous. I'm also a recording artist,praying to be successful but, I absolutly love his voice and his music and I just had to visit this site since I can't get this sone out of my head! but good luck sweeti your awesome!

Actually, The part that says ' you were born on the fourth of july, freedom ring' refers to one of his friends growing up who was born on the fourth of july. his friend got lukiema and thats what the beginning of the song is all about. and the part where he says 'i saw fireworks on the freeway, and behind closed eyes I cannot make them go away' is about when he was going to see his friend in the hospital and he saw fireworks from disney land..

The song is very interesting with respect to the numerous metaphors that can be extracted. I'm unclear on Jason Mraz's view of the war in Iraq, but in the context of the song and the time of its release (2002) numerous images can be assimilated to provide the impression that this song is expressing a dislike for the U.S involvement in the Afghanistan and war in Iraq. 'Cause you were born on the fourth of july, freedom ring' The nation was born on the fourth of July (ie: Declaration of Independence) 'I saw fireworks from the freeway and behind closed eyes I cannot make them go away' Jason Mraz can not ignore the war. 'Now something on the surface it stings...that something on the surface it kind of makes me nervous who says that you deserve this' The war in Iraq was preemptive and can be viewed by some as not as justified as the war in Afghanistan. 'The remedy is the experience. It is a dangerous liaison.' The remedy to war is understanding the experience of being a soldier in war. War is a dangerous relationship.'I say the comedy is that its serious. Which is a strange enough new play on words' War is not joke, it's serious, but a general view of the current war in Iraq is meant with not as much seriousness in comparisons with past U.S wars in Vietnam and World War II. Based on recent headlines it can be perceived that the government played on the words 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' in an attempt to justify war against Iraq. The third stance stance is an example of Mraz ability to intertwine multiple threads, the comedic nature of the war (lack of interest), and the seriousness of war. 'Uncovering the ways to plan the next big attack...they were counting down the days to stab the brother in the be right back after this' Mraz coalesces the serious aspects of war with the comedic game-show spin portraying American's lack of seriousness of the war in Iraq. The fifth stance Mraz uses the concept of love as a metaphor for the war. Just as a person takes their time to find the person they love, the U.S government should take their time to justify the war in Iraq. 'There's no need to hurry when I'm making up my mind' There is no need to rush in to a relationship just like there is no need for the U.S government to make a hasty, preemptive, decision. Despite my analysis, the time of the song's release leads to certain ambiguities to the true message of the song. The generalization Mraz uses makes it difficult to point to one towards one message or another. The song could be stretched to justify a cancer patient, but I feel the third stance and the use of plural objects (ie: 'they') discredits this idea.

All you people who are dissing Mraz need to go get a life. I think this song kicks ass, though It's not as good as some of his earlier work. If you want to sit there and bi*** about how this song is 'un-orginal' or whatever your problem is with it then go go pick up his live album.. it shows how what a TALENTED singer/songwriter he is..

Jason Mraz is awful and certainly not 'awsome.' He is a tool and the video of him driving around with chickens is disturbing. He looks like Ethan Embry after about 20 beers and ten days without washing his clothes

I believe that The Remedy is one of the best songs ever. I knew about Jason Mraz before he started to become big. I loved him then and I love him even more now! If you love this version you should listen to the acoustic version, it is even better.

I give the song a 10 because of the subjective nature of it; I had no idea Mraz was singing about a friend with cancer in this song. In fact, I was convinced this song was about America and post-war sentiments. I mean, America WAS born on the Fourth of July, and America does deserve a wake-up call since we're the global bullies, and I thought this was Mraz's way of saying it's sad that so many people are going to be spending their lives afraid to live because of 'the next big attack,' and he was defying them all by being alive. I don't know, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that got that out of the song, but the fact that I can get such a concrete idea out of a song that has nothing to do with that topic just makes me smile.

This is very addictive song. I love the tune, couldn't get the words until I read the stuff about cancer and his friend. His song also reminds me of a certain guy I like, I dont know why though. It just came on one morning, I had heard it before but never really listened until then and it just struck me that I had to get this song and Im pretty glad I did, can't really stop listening to it.

While Jason deserves a 10, I gave this song a 9 for the sole reason that I know that Jason is not a huge fan of it (he feels that the song was manipulated into a top 40 hit when that wasn't his original intention for it), and that he would have preferred 'Curbside Prophet' as his first single. For any of you who don't know, 'The Remedy' was written for Jason's best friend Charlie when he was fighting cancer. So Jason was driving by Disney World/Land (whichever's in California) and he saw the fireworks going off and wrote the song then and there as a tribute to Charlie's struggle and because Jason couldn't understand why such a good person had to be so sick. Charlie's attitude about his cancer was 'well if I get through this I'll be a stronger person, this is good for me' hence, the positive chorus. Charlie has now been cancer free for more than a year. Also, for those of you who have just bought or heard his album, you're seriously missing out, his album is highly overproduced and doesn't even begin to do Jason's voice justice. Check out any of his live stuff and you'll be completely blown away, I guarantee.

This song is horrible, the lyrics are suedo intellectual, and I could have sworn that when I closed my eyes listening to this song(maybe I was falling asleep) that I was at my local coffee shop listening to some college kid whinning away in the corner. I heard about this guy from someone I knew about 2 years ago and am quit surprised he's almost mainstream but in the end his voice,look, and talent arent enough to keep him around. Look for him to be playing at coffee shops in about a year.

No matter if Jason is writing this song for a guy or not, the song has meaning. This song is the best emotionally written song since the singer of sevendust wrote that song im memory of the singer of Snot when he died. You don't have to be gay to carry out your emotions. I am engaged to a wonderful man and if I know I am not going to see my dearest and bestest girl friends for a long period of time, I will give them a peck on the lips or cheek. I am comfortable with my sexuality, and apparently so is Jason Mraz. The song is sweet and very well written and sung. I am a Guy who can appreciate great music. And Jason Mraz is great. I was sitting here on my computer and The TV was on. The host of whatever show it was I was watching announced (I didnt catch the name the first time.). This guy immediately caught my attention. It was awsome watching him strumming his guitar with so much energy and singing such a great, unique and very powerful song, along with his awsome voice I loved the song and the way he sang it. i don't often listen to pop music, but i'll occasionally venture onto VH1 and seriously pay attention to what's coming around the block. that being said, just more of the same (coffeehouse appeal, John Mayer style/stance with an emo-trucker hat, catchy song but nothing memorable). i don't know what's worse. rap that offends to sell, or this stuff that remains boring and unchallenging for the sake of being 'safe'. and yes i write songs and yes i'm sure they're 10 times better than Jason Mraz. and no i won't be seen on VH1 b/c i'm not going to kid myself into thinking that i'd make it anyway. Not Sure how his being 'hot' makes a difference. We were judging the song, not his package. Jason Mraz is a very pleasant surprise. he's original, vocally talented, and has a knack for songwriting. i agree that he does sound like john mayor- i'm not sure who i prefer, theyre both good. i love the part in the video where he puts the flower inside the security guards gun. i look forward to hearing more.

I really like this song, it's upbeat and catchy. One of those songs that you can get stuck in your head, but manages to get you in a good mood. Not to mention that it's a whole lot better than the crap that they play on the radio these days (*cough*rap*cough*JustinTimberlake*). Those who can't see the value in this song are musical rocks and should just as soon shoot themselves before pretending to know anything about good music.

I like it. Not the best and not the worst...I do mean it's good but I have heard better. Actually since I live overseas I had never heard the song untill it came on the internet radio one day. I can sing along, and it even made me come find the lyrics...but there are equally great works out there....I give it a 9 becuase it could be better, and I think the ending is dead lame.

Hands down, The Remedy is my song of the year for 2003 so far. I got Mraz's album after hearing The Remedy just a few times on the radio not knowing what to expect. What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. One of his songs, 'Too Much Food', is just as catchy as The Remedy with even more offbeat lyrics. If you love The Remedy, be sure to check it out.

I spend My time with worry and your song keeps me in a space of living in the moment I was watching the music choice and it showed your documentary and I didn't know who it was till I opened the site with your name and I remebered hearing the worry song and saying to myself this is the song I live by or atleast try to. An absolutely fantastic song, but I'm always wary of giving 10's because there will always be fantastic songs out there... Such a catchy tune with clever lyrics, though the 'I won't worry' bit of the chorus is a bit boy-band-ish at times... but still one of my favourites! I was born on the fifth of July so he's *almost* right... This boy has talent, but I don't compare him to John Mayer - they're pretty different, in my view... Anyway, a great song!
