Thank you for writing about the respect our troops deserve. I am grateful everynight when I put my children to bed that I can sleep peacefully knowing that our country is being protected form psycotic foreingers from destoying our people and country. I enjoy I can make choices in my life and worship God anywhere at any time with out being tortured. If I had all the money in the world, I would take all people who hate our armed forces and bad mouth our country and leave them in Iraq for a month. After that amount of time, I would like to see how many of them would return home to a free country. Sometimes people really need to think about hate and realize how forturnate we are in the US. Even if a person lives on walfare or makes millions, you would NOT have those privilages in other countries. First, you would not get any money to support not wanting to work or use the excuse I could not afford to educate myself. Second, if you make millions because your a movie star or Dixie Chick bad mouthing our government but when your movie is out or song broadcasted, you would be shot or hung because you offended their religion with no trail and no amount of money can get you out of your death sentence! So lets put things in a realistic perspective and think hard what we have. Now I said my opinon, I off to get a sticker for my surban... I am proud of my service men who protect our country so I can choose 50 miles per gallon hybrid or my big ol SUV....................Thanks Chely and Armed Forces.

I have a son that is the Marines, and he has been in ROTC for the last 4 years and knew that being a Marine is what he wanted to do.When we went to boot camp graduation they played that song and there was not a dry eye in the room.I have a proud mom bumped sticker, and 3 other red and yellow stickers. That song has more meaning and more heart than any song ever will.So for those of you who do not like that song really need a reality check. What is done is done and it is to late to pull our troops out,now we just need to focus on the last man standing, and I would bet my life that it will be a UNITED STATES MARINE.The main thing that matters is that there are soilders out there who are willing to give up their lives to make sure that we can live ours.We are sitting here talking about who is right or wrong who do you think is out there giving us the freedom to do that. All of the soilders fighting to keep us free, that is who!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will do what ever I can to stand behind all of the soilders that are fighting for my freedom. Chely you are a great person inside and out so there for I hope that all of the people that have bashed you will not stop you from writting another great song. Keep up the great work.

My wife had me hear this song for the first time not long ago, and I loved it. I am a SSG in the U.S. Army and my brother is in the marines, we both served a tour in IRAQ and I thank God that there are people out there that are not afraid to show support in the military no matter what branch of service or rank. Thank you and God Bless.

Before he left he heard this song and he really loved it the first time he heard on the radio. He showed me this song and i cried the first time i heard it and now its his myspace song and soon to be on mine as well...i really like this song its good!

I watched Chely sing this song , recently at the Grand ole Opry, the audience was full of Our soldiers, from all ranks of the service, Theya all stood up, and gave Her a well deserved Standing Ovation> Each time I hear her sing it, it is with More feeling, than the time before> I think this is one of Chely's best songs> Thank God for people who not afraid or ashamed, to put the United Staes marines, or any rank on the Bumper of their Suv> I am going to have One> Linda(songbird) Winston salem, North carolina

This song is something I believe she has been trying to say and get out for the last 5 years. I have met this woman who is beautiful in both person and merit. She took a break to visit the troops over seas and do free concerts to our troops. She did this for no compesation to herself, she did it because she believes in this country and the people that serve it. For those of you critics that believe she is just another singer trying to get easy sales by jumping on the bandwagon you need to look deeper into who she is. She doesn't have that sticker on her S.U.V. just because she loves Marines or military. She is supporting her own family which serves within the ranks of the defenders of our country, and specifically the Marines. All you anti-war believers, military bashers, and protesters need to remember how you earned that right, and maybe think about what you have done to defend it. 'The land of the free will cease to be when it's no longer the home of the brave.'-- Rick Gaber 'God grants liberty only to those who love it, and are always ready to guard and defend it.' -- Daniel Webster (1834) 'War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling that thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.' -- John Stuart Mill 'The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people.' -- Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis

Let's review for a minute about poetic justice. Is it likely that the driver in the mini van realy was flipping Chely off for her bumper sticker? Probably not. However, the idea is there. I too have a bright yellow and red bumper sticker on my bright red saturn (which, by the way, gets 36 miles to the gallon). I have gotten everything from free car washes to eggs thrown at my car. I do not agree with the war that is going on in Iraq. I think that we should bring our boys home, and let them deal with their own nonsense. But as long as my baby brother is serving overseas, I will continue to drive proudly, bumper sticker and all. The proudest day of my life was the day I put my brother on the plane for Iraq. A man and his young children approached us in the parking lot and asked to shake the hand of a soldier, who was fighting for everything that is good in our country. I think that Chely was just trying to bring some awareness to the world about supporting our troops, not the war. Way to go Chely!!! God Bless all of our Troops, and their families.

Great song!!! I hope that lady is on her f***ing way out of this country cause thats what she needs to do. Im in the Air Force but i am proud and respect all the branches because we are behind the same cause and we help each other. I have plenty of friends in the Marines and Army and Navy and even Coast Guard. And i have lost a close high school friend who became a marine and died in Iraq. What i also dont understand is why would the lady flick her off like that. I mean for a simple sticker?? f*** that! I can understand her doing it if Chely had something like 'f*** Iraqis, and f*** antiwar people' Thats understandable but a dam sticker? I dunno thats just me though...All i know if i had a simple sticker like that and that lady did that to me i probly wouldve chased her down and broke her sh**. I know she had the legal right to do it but it was morally wrong! And anyone whose willing to take legal over morality go to f***ing p**** ass France and go work at a French w**** house hows that! I never mention to anyone that im in the military but when someone finds out and says something nice about it, it makes me feels better like there are people that are supporting us but when i hear something like this it just makes me really angry! Oh and by the way Toby Keiths Red, White, and Blue is also a great song and cause dixie chix found it offensive they can go F themselves.

I truly don't understand how people can listen to this song, and belittle it. I have a brother currently serving in Iraq, and every day I listen to the news, terrified that his unit has been attacked. I am proud to say I have Army stickers all over my car, because I want people to see how much I support our military every where I go. The woman in the mini-van had every right to flick Chely Wright off for her bumper sticker because she has an army that is willing to die for her right to denounce them. So many people only see war and death instead of the cause behind all of it, or the reason this country exists. We have an obligation to help other countries follow in our footsteps if that is what they want, and our armed forces fulfill this obligation every day by risking their life for little pay and even less respect. Reviewer #27 said something about paranoia in Redneck Country. I am proud to say I am a Georgia redneck, filled with patriotism and a strong sense of right, wrong, duty, and sacrifice. The South is called the Heartland for a reason, number 27- because we have retained values, morals, and compassion, all mixed in with an ability to stand up for ourselves and for others. It's a rare redneck who would spit on our military, instead we are the ones who still salute the flag when we pass it by, who take off our caps, sing with gusto, and allow tears to fill our eyes when the National Anthem is played. In my opinion, we are a fine group of people who are often characterized as racist, ignorant fools. We love our country and the men and women who serve it. What this world needs is a few more rednecks, and a lot less ignorant, un-American fools like you. God Bless America!

I really enjoyed this song, mainly because I drive a SUV and I also have a sticker that says United States Marines on the back. I honor my brother, fellow soldiers and country with that sticker and I have had some blunt people tell me that I was stupid for displaying something that represents war and death and the lost of innocense. For all those people, I just say, you are what causes dictatorships!!!lol You dont like to hear other peoples opinions b/c they are wrong in your eyes and everyone who does not agree are ignorant and stupid. I think we all know who the ignorant and stupid ones are.. You are literally complaining about being free

Chely Wirght, whoever the hell you are. You oughta be ashamed. Americans are being killed in the middle East every day by Islamic radicals who want nothing more than to destroy our country. And who is financing these radicals? Chely Wright and others like her who who feel the need to cruise around in behemouth SUV's that use twice as much gasoline as a normal - which drives up the demand and the price of Middle Eastern Oil. If I saw Chely Wright in her SUV with the Marines sticker, I would give her the finger also, and not ebecause I am anti-Marine.

A very moving song. To those putting down Chely Wright for making assumptions about the woman in the minivan; (the private school, safe streets, church) did you consider that she's using those as examples of freedoms we have that other countries don't? 'That's why I have a sticker for the US Marines, on the bumper of my SUV.'

This is a great song. My brother serves with the ARMY NATIONAL GUARD,and recently returned from Iraq. My father and uncles served in WWII, and my dad also in the Korean war. My Dad served in the Navy, Army, and Air Force before he retired. While the song mentions the Marines specifically, the sentiment clearly applies to all family and members of the Armed Forces. Chely has the right to state her opinion just as much as the woman flipping her the bird.

This song pretty much exemplifies the ignorance and paranoia that dominate the Redneck Nation. Maybe she got the finger because she cut off the other driver, etc. She’s accusing the other driver of “judging [her]” when she is, in fact, the one doing the judging because she has no idea why the minivan driver flipper her off (yes, I heard Ms. Wright later claimed the woman muttered some expletive about the Marines - if so, she should have put that in the song; this is clearly a fabrication by either Ms. Wright or a highly fanciful author). Moreover, she assumes the woman’s children attend a private school. Based on what? Does she follow her around all day or has she hired a private detective? Not only are these lyrics shallow, they show the fundamental ignorance of its intended audience who, much like the songstress, make baseless assumptions about another person and then use them to justify a self-righteous proto-fascist rant.

I may not have a family member in the marines (I do have a friend)... but I thank Chely for putting everything into perspective. My husband is in Basic Training for the Army and wanted to make God, his country and family proud of him. He went for Patriot Missile Computer Analyst and who knows if I will ever see him again...or if he will ever meet his newborn son that I just had...but I do know one thing and that is what he did was totally selfless. He went into the military knowing the consequences and wanted to better the world we live in today so that we can have the ability to go to the grocery store...to vote...to walk the streets with our heads held high...for us to be who we are...my husband has done something that most people do not have the courage to do except those who are in the military as well... we go on with our daily lives as if nothing happened...do we even remember 9-11? It is easy to forget sometimes what these men and women do for us on a daily basis by the Grace of God...all of u that made those negative remarks...yeah...they even fought for that too... i just wonder when all of u who do not understand the true meaning of what these soldiers have done and continue to do for u...when u turn off your computers at night and sit back to really think... they are serving, fighting and dying for u... obviously we do not have the same courage if we are discussing this and not doing it ourselves...more people should be where they are at right now, but here is something from me to all the troops out there...in my house, you all haven't been forgotten...u all will remain in our prayers and stay in God's Hands... Thank you...

Yikes. This ranks up there with Toby Keith as pure jingoistic garbage. I respect the Marines, but songs like this make me want to wretch all over myself. Fortunatly, Toby Keith's 'Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue' will always be the worst song ever written, so Ms. Wright doesn't have to worry about earning that distinction. Maybe I should move to France.

Wether the songs sucks or not, wether you're a republican or a democrat, if you don't have family in the armed forces you will never understand what being part of THEM means; if you do, and still have the nerve to say f__ the marines, I know that what hurts you the most is that THOSE HEROES have the balls to fight for their beliefs and pay for the consequences! UNLIQUE YOU!!! bunch of cowards... I'd like to see you talking to a MARINE face to face and telling HIM or HER... f__ you. YOU COULDN'T! SO... GO!! MARINES!! GO BUSH!!! and MAY GOD bless AMERICA.

This is by far one of the best songs i haver ever heard Chely sing. My stepfather has been to Iraq and back twice and so has my best friend. i have been a 'military brat' my entire life and have had every member of my imediate family in one branch or another. When that phone call comes in the early morning hours they don't bat a lash they pack. you never know if they will come back alive or in a box but either way you know that they do it for you, for all of us. They fight for freedom so that we can live our lives the way that we do and so that our children can grow up the same way. Everyone has the right to express their opinion however they please whether its in a bumper sticker or by fliping the bird. Either way we're free because of them. And for that i thank them.

There have been some of you that have made comments I just don't understand!! Comments such as 'have family that have died in Iraq' and then go to almost being the cheerleader for the flipper of the finger due to the fact that you are proud she has that right. The right has been earned..you are correct, BUT earned BY men and women of service...especially Marines!! I don't think people have forgotten why we started this fight...they messed with us! Yes, we are over there to give others freedom..BUT we had family members sent to protect US from THEM. US includes the lady in the SUV. I am so proud people have the right to be anti-war..that is FINE!!! BUT anti-american is a TOTALLY different. Flipping as you say 'f-the-Marines'---THEY ARE THE UNITED STATES MARINES....AND THAT IS ANTI-AMERICAN!!! I love this song and am proud to say I have sticker for the US Marines on the bumper of my car.

Something noteworthy--- This artist performs an entire song about being judged wrongly because of her bumper sticker then judges the woman for picking up her kids at a private school. This song may quite possibly be the worst song of the year. If I see Chely Wright, I'm flickin' her off too.

However, I bad song is a bad song. I really am beginning to believe that the thing that all of us are fighting for abroad has been completely stifled here at home. The United States is supposedly overseas to promote freedom. We are securing the freedom of religion, speech, among many others for people who could not do it for themselves. Why are we not able practice the same at home without fear of being chastised by a country music artist? If the silly lady wants to give ole Chely the bird, and say 'F*** the Marines!' that is her right. And as ridiculous as that may be, it is a right that I am happy to see her embracing. We need an opposing view because an America not arguing, is an America not thinking. Not thinking is something that has been going on for too long now.....Please review the facts of this cause.

I heard Chely on a radio talk show...the woman flipped her off and said 'hey F**k the marines'. So, how would you take it?

Maybe the lady with the finger also yelled something and we just dont know that part of it!? Get real! Reality is that there are people living and working in this country that hate Old Glory! There are people that talk about peace, but just plain hate the very hand that feeds them and would do most anything to run her down! Great song!! Lets just hope the country singers dont run this thing into the ground and this is not just some kind of fad!!

Just because you have a Marines sticker on the bumber of your SUV doen not give you an excuse for being a bad driver. Do you really believe that she was flicked off for having a US Marines sticker?! Get real people!!

This song brings back lots of memories. As a Vietnam era vet and now having a son in the marines ready to go back over to Iraq, it makes a point. To the lady in Nashvile with the wild finger, I hope you never have to go through what I'm going through. Or maybe you should, then you'll understand that 'freedom isn't free'

Knowing it's a true story helps understand it a little more. If you haven't heard it, get your radio station to play it. It's awesome.
