I like this song. Very catchy. However, it doesn't really make a lot of sense. 'Since you've been gone, I can breathe for the first time... now I get what I want...' I'm not quite sure what it is that she wants because it kind of sounds like she's bitter and really would like to have him back. Anyways... good song, bad lyrics. I adore this song. Everytime it comes on the radio I just have to sing and dance to it. Anyone who says that Kelly sounds like Avril has to be joking. Avril has no voice whatsoever compared to Kelly and Kelly CAN write music..she wrote half of her album! Avril CO-wrote ONE song on her album which wasn't even that great. Duh? Kelly Clarkson is the best American Idol winner i ever saw. She's better than Ruben or Fantasia. Duh Ruben's singles are so boring!!! Most you people on this board have absolutely no idea. Avril had nothing to do with this song. Plus even if she did sing it, it would never have had sounded as good as Kelly Clarkson.
This track was written (if u can read) by Martin Sandberg & Lukasz Gottwald. These guys work out of the same studios Backstreet Boys, Nsync, Britney Spears and all that pop stuff comes out from. Max Martin (guy behind the biggest acts in the world) produced this track.
So even though it is one of the best power alternative tracks written for 2005, it was always gonna be a number one with the people behind it - and no, Avril had NOTHING at all to do with this track.

Ummm.. maybe people should start reading the CD liners. Avril did not write this song. It was written by Markus Sandberg and Lukas Gottvald. Avril was INVOLVED (and I stress involved) in writing the song 'Breakaway'. And Kelly can outsing almost anyone out there these days. I include the Joss Stones and Avril Lavignes in that reference.

'Since U Been Gone' has got to be one of the best songs ever. Whenever Kelly comes out with a new song, I just get more amazed...People can say what they want, but she is the most talented singer EVER!! I mean, come on, how many artists can take a beautiful song like 'Breakaway' (which is the absolute best song, it has an awesome message and she sings it so beautifully) and then 'Rock Out' on thier next song...Many artists wouldn't be able to make it work, but she CAN!! She makes it seem so natural, so effortless...She is the best!!
By the way, I just bought the CD 'Breakaway' tonight and I am blown away!!!!!

This is such a GREAT tune for Kelly.I've read alot of people say it's sounds to Avril-y. But, I don't see it. The big difference here is Kelly can SANG!!!!!!She is SO versatile, I think she can handle ANY genre.
This song has a great uptempo to the chorus that just makes you want to jump up and down to. Her voice hits the high notes SO effortlessly, is unreal. After 'Breakaway', I think this is a real good choice for a second single off her new Cd that comes out Nov. 30th. I definetly be buying that one
