THO 100 for week ending March 13, 2010

The Courteeners are an indie rock band from England who recently released their second album, "Falcon." Their first single from Falcon is "You Overdid It Doll," which becomes THO's largest point gainer and biggest chart mover this week. On the UK chart "Overdid It" reached #28, but it hasn't received enough airplay in the U.S. to chart yet. Nothing new to report at the top of the Top Hits Online weekly chart, as "Bad Romance" extends its record for weeks at #1 to 18 weeks. The #2 song, "Telephone" actually lost points this week, so the record may be extended another week until Rihanna's "Rude Boy" or Timbaland's "If We Ever Meet Again" can catch up.

THO 100 for week ending March 6, 2010

This week on the THO 100, Lady GaGa extends her record for most weeks at #1 with a single as "Bad Romance" makes it 17 weeks at the top. It is hard to believe that it became the number one song on November 14th. What is the only song that might put a stop to it? Of course, another Lady GaGa song! Her duet with Beyonce, "Telephone", climbs to #2 this week. Another single with a shot at blocking GaGa is Rihanna's "Rude Boy". After having the largest point gain last week, "Rude" springs from #11 to #6 this week. Rihanna is no stranger to the #1 position: she's had four #1 singles already starting with "S.O.S. (Rescue Me)" in 2006.

THO 100 for week ending February 27, 2010

The new THO 100 chart has been published and Lady GaGa breaks the record for most consecutive weeks at #1 with her smash "Bad Romance." The previous record of 15 weeks was shared by Cher's "Believe" (1999) and Madonna's "You'll See" (1995-1996). If you are sick of Miss GaGa, don't blame me... the THO 100 chart is based on personal charts found all over the web, including discussion groups and personal web sites. "Bad Romance" still has a healthy lead over #2 "Tik Tok," so another week or two at #1 is not unlikely. It is GaGa's third number one song, following "Just Dance" and "Poker Face." THO has a poll to vote on the best Lady GaGa songs, and "Bad Romance" had an early lead, not surprisingly.
