THO 100 Update for week ending August 15, 2009

The new on the latest THO 100 chart isn't what happened at the top - the top six songs did not change positions. The action was further down the chart. Shakira's hot new hit had the largest point gain and blasted into the top 10 after only four weeks on the chart. The highest debut came from Madonna, who has released the title track from her upcoming "Celebration" album. No surprisingly, the track has one of the highest debuts of 2009, landing at #33. The lower reaches of the top 100 chart include nine other debuts, including Nelly Furtado, Bloc Party, and Jay-Z.

Janet Jackson Continues Chart Success

Janet Jackson first hit the pop charts when she was only 16 years old - a minor hit called "Young Love" in 1982. Since then Janet has charted more than 50 different songs and has collaborated with an all-star list of musicians, including Luther Vandross, Diddy, Busta Rhymes, Shaggy, Joni Mitchell, Nelly, Michael Jackson, and many more. This week Jackson pulls off a rare feat as two songs simultaneously debut on the THO 100: "Rock With U" and "Luv." Both songs recently began receiving radio airplay in different formats and in different countries. In honor of all her accomplishments we created a poll for music fans to select the best Janet Jackson songs of her career. The poll includes all of her major hits: from "What Have You Done For Me Lately" to "Feedback."
