THO 100 Update for the week ending September 20, 2008

For the third week in a row Rihanna claims the #1 position on the THO 100 with "Disturbia," holding off Katy Perry's former #1 "I Kissed A Girl." Once again this week, a bigger story is further down the chart where a female artist collaboration have the chart's largest point gain and largest chart move. The song is called "Just Stand Up!" and it is credited to Artists Stand Up To Cancer. It is one of the most superstar-filled collaborations for a song since "We Are The World." Leading the track is Beyonce (pictured), and also includes Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Ashanti, Mary J. Blige, Natasha Bedingfield, Rihanna, LeAnn Rimes, Carrie Underwood, Melissa Etheridge, Keyshia Cole, Sheryl Crow, Leona Lewis, Ciara, and Fergie. How will this song fair on the radio and on personal charts? We didn't think it had top 10 potential, but so far so good... it moves from #66 to #26 this week.

THO 100 Update for week ending September 13, 2008

Not much happening this week around the top of the chart as the top 3 positions remain the same. Further down the chart there is plenty of action... starting with a big debut for Metallica at #52 with "The Day That Never Comes." Normally #52 would be good enough to earn Highest Debut honors, but that belongs to Oasis, who dive in at #36 with "The Shock Of The Lightning." Oasis and Metallica lead a total of twelve debuts onto the chart, two of which belong to Natasha Bedingfield (pictured). Her hit "Pocketful Of Sunshine" at #75 is joined by "Angel" at #86 and also by "Bruised Water," a collaboration with Chicane.

THO 100 Update for the week ending May 3, 2008

In the week in which Natasha Bedingfield (pictured) appeared on American Idol (and gushed over David Archuleta), she is the greatest point gainer on the THO 100. The song she performed on Idol was "Pocketful of Sunshine," which rockets from #38 to #18 on this weeks' chart. Although top 10 status seems inevitable for this song, it will be hard to overcome the current hits at the top by Madonna, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, and Usher. "4 Minutes" (featuring Justin Timberlake) continues to widen the gap between #1 and #2, and a new #1 before June, or maybe even July, seems unlikely.
