THO 100 Update for week ending January 31, 2009

We'll have to check the archives, and probably need to go back a few years, to find the last artist to have four solo hits on the THO 100 at the same time. This week Beyonce accomplishes just that. The biggest hit of the four (so far) is "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)," which currently sits at #2. At #15 is "If I Were A Boy," which previously reached a high of #3. Further down the chart are "Halo" at #39 and "Diva" at #86. All four songs are from her recent album "I Am...Sasha Fierce." The album could end up alongside Michael Jackson's "Thriller," Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation," and just a few other albums that had more than five hit songs. Enjoy this week's chart!

Janet Jackson Continues Chart Success

Janet Jackson first hit the pop charts when she was only 16 years old - a minor hit called "Young Love" in 1982. Since then Janet has charted more than 50 different songs and has collaborated with an all-star list of musicians, including Luther Vandross, Diddy, Busta Rhymes, Shaggy, Joni Mitchell, Nelly, Michael Jackson, and many more. This week Jackson pulls off a rare feat as two songs simultaneously debut on the THO 100: "Rock With U" and "Luv." Both songs recently began receiving radio airplay in different formats and in different countries. In honor of all her accomplishments we created a poll for music fans to select the best Janet Jackson songs of her career. The poll includes all of her major hits: from "What Have You Done For Me Lately" to "Feedback."

Mariah Carey Extends All-Time THO Song Lead

No artist has had more songs on the THO 100 than Mariah Carey. This week on the THO chart she adds to her total with "Touch My Body." The THO chart began in 1993, so the list is even missing some of Mariah's biggest hits of her career in 1991-1992. Nevertheless, she leads Madonna, Janet, and Shania on the all-time list of most songs on the THO chart. We've created a poll to determine fans' favorite Mariah songs of all-time. Because of the large number of hits, we've limited the list to only her top 10 Billboard or THO hits. Vote on the Mariah Carey song poll here.
